Default A new iMac

My 2006-vintage 24-inch iMac pulled its odd screen mess on me again, so I called the local Apple service center, which said it was either the screen ($500 plus labor) or the logic board ($900 plus labor).

If I hadn’t been so frustrated, I would have taken it in, but I have been annoyed at the slowness of this Mac, especially with Adobe apps (or those in combination with multiple browsers open with lots of tabs). So I bit the bullet and ordered an extravagantly equipped 27-inch iMac from Apple.

On the other hand, I took the standard 1Tb drive; that should be plenty in any event (the current drive is a 250 GB with 120 remaining), but I would still want an external for backups.

They say I should receive it by March 24 to 30. I am sure it will be exciting, though I may have to build a shadow box around it to live with the shiny screen.
2.8GHz quad-core Intel core i5
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM — 2x4GB (the extravagance)
1TB serial ATA drive
8x DVD drive
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 SDRAM
Wireless keyboard (no keypad; but I have plenty of wide keyboards already)
Magic Mouse
