Users of Mac OS X Tiger can download and install a free Spotlight Plugin for Painter IX. With this, you can search inside Painter RIFF files to find text, layer names, and other file information.

I've just got Tiger. I don't intend to install it for another month or so, but thanks for letting me know about the plugin. Now I'll have to start naming my Painter layers something meaningful<G>
