There is a long discussion on Font Management on the Mac, but I cannot find anything on Windows font management. I have a good tool from HP on my Windows 98SE computer, but nothing for the Windows XP Pro.

Any ideas? (Prefer cheap or free, though.) No, I am not content with what XP provides for free.

I use Font Reserve which works well enough for switching fonts on and off and creating sets. It's not brilliant for doing samples though, especially of OpenTypes with lots of characters and features. It basically ignores anything outside the system codepage. It hasn't been updated for several years.

Probably because all the messages concerned Mac OS 10 users, who could no longer use Adobe ATM Deluxe. Now that program is no longer available for Windows either, but you may still find it on eBay etc.

I'm using FontNav 3, which is getting a little old and creaky. I think there are newer versions, but don't know if it's worth upgrading (I don't know if there's any way to get FontNav except by buying CorelDraw).

FontNav 3 doesn't seem to handle OpenType, which is inconvenient.

Anyway, I wish there were a nice new FontNav-type font manager that would handle all kinds of fonts and do lots of tricks.

I tried ATM Deluxe, but never could quite figure it out.

I just read something about FontExpert, and went to the web site to investigate:

Looks like it's $49, and has a 30-day demo. I might try it out if I get a chance.

Has anyone here used it?

As am I. It still does everything I need but it's pretty elderly.

Font Navigator 5 seems to be happy with OpenType, and I think that version 4 was, too.

Hm. Now that I think of it, I must have a newer version of Font Navigator than version 3 around here somewhere, and am actually wondering why I didn't install it during my last Corel Draw or Ventura install.
