Default Path mysteriously changed

I have a batch file sitting in a folder under C:\Program Files (x86), and I set it up so I could launch from the Windows start menu. I've also used this many times. Today I tried to launch it and I got a statement that the file could not be found. I right-clicked to see the properties of the shortcut on the Start Menu and it was changed to C:\Program Files. So I looked at the batch file itself to see if anything suspicious had been written to it (perhaps by a virus). It looks okay.

This kind of change could not be a random glitch. Have any of you heard about anything like this?
