My daughter gave me a very interesting book for Chanukah.

Life Histories of 100 Famous Logos (http://www.brainpickings.org/index.php/2012/10/09/logo-life-life-histories-of-100-famous-logos/)

Cool.

You've raised her well.

Agreed. She prefers to work as Stage Manager for live theatre (or any other backstage position), but she helps me with computer support work when needed (esp. Macs), and just finished her first InDesign job for a person who was/is my computer support client. Multi-talented. Also knits, crochets, sews and cooks. I just wish she could find a full time well-paid job....

Looks interesting. I'm always amazed at how strong such simple images can be.

Looks like a great book. And it's inspirational to see how meaningful, simple, well-designed logos can be timeless.

In my last job, I did quite a lot of business with 3M (RFID systems) and was always envious of the domain name they used for email (mmm.com). At the time, the domain I had to use was [long regional council name].qld.gov.au. Added to the length, the council name had a word in it that the majority of people spell differently, so giving it over the phone was a long exercise. And lots of people still got it wrong.

Unfortunately, backstage jobs don't pay all that well, as a rule. Loving your work goes a long way, though.
