I can't seem to figure out how to create verticle text instead of horizontal. I have done it many times before but I just can't remember...

I can't seem to figure out how to create verticle text instead of horizontal. I have done it many times before but I just can't remember...:confused:I have only ever done it manually, and that works. That is:

Type each letter, followed by a Return. Bold caps seem to work best for this.
Select all the letters, make them the size you want, then reduce the leading to roughly 2/3 of the type size (have to experiment).
I found that Optical alignment works (slightly) better than Metric.

Some words look better than others this way (not, as you can see in the attachment, the words “vertical type”)!

Sometimes we have to make ourselves think simple! All this fancy software …

You are soooo right! Sometimes the easist things seem so complicated - we just have to step back a moment and think about it in a different way. It's interesting how there are so many different ways to achieve the same result with even the same software!!!
