I love my Da Vinci font but PhotoshopCS and IllustratorCS don't seem to be able to use it or any other of the P22 fonts. Word likes them fine. Could I have done something wrong when installing, or is there a way to get PS/AI to recognise them?

(They seem rather whimsical as to what fonts they'll condescend to let me use. Finale music editing program has a fun type font and many "fonts" that print musical things from the keyboard --clefs, notes, rests, accidentals and so on-- and the programs seem fine with most of the keyboard with these.)

Not sure what your problem may be, but what format is the font? (TrueType or Type 1)? You work on a PC, right? How old is the font (roughly)?

I’ll ask the P22 people about this, but need more information. There is no reason that I can think of that should cause this problem.

I have Da Vinci and just used it in Photoshop as a test. I'm curious to find out what's causing this problem. If you are on a PC, are you using a font manager?

FWIW, my P22 fonts (postscript on W2K) work just fine. I didn't install any special way--just use Suitcase.

Hmmm. I have a boatload of P22 fonts, and haven't had any problems with any of them so far. I usually use them in Quark. They are all Type1 fonts, and I install them using ATM (although that's probably not necessary with XP, it's just a habit) and manage them with FontNav.

I just checked, and Da Vinci works fine in both PhotoshopCS and IllustratorCS.

It does sound like it could be an installation problem that's keeping your Adobe apps from seeing the fonts. How are you installing/activating them?

It must have been an Adobe problem. The P22 fonts never caused a problem in Word. And after a while (like about 2 nanoseconds after I posted here!) it went away and AI and PS admitted they existed!

I'm really excited about the Insectile font I just got (remember how in old, I mean really old like 30's mystery novels the cure for female depression was to buy a new hat?) . There's a letter set that is made of bug parts (mostly legs), very pleasing, and two sets of bug pictures --one detailed, one silhouettes-- and the critters are keyed to the letters (and come with a key --they're not fanciful, they're correct pictures--) --M for Moth, E is an earwig, and so on.
