Sorry, not yet, but that's an interesting, faint dent that appears in the flat tops and leg bottoms.

Oh, I've seen that dent, I'm sure of it! Darned if I can remember where, though.I had the same thought. I "recognize" it, but I'm no good at ID-ing fonts (like I can recognize a plant but have no idea what its name is).

Oh, I've seen that dent, I'm sure of it! Darned if I can remember where, though.Saw a TV commercial for hotels.com and although that logo is not italic, they look like the same type family. Going to the hotels.com site, however, the logo is too small to detect any dents.

I have it on good authority that it is Gothic 821 Condensed Italic

I have it on good authority that it is Gothic 821 Condensed Italic.Bingo!

Or sort of — it is Block Berthold Extra Condensed Italic. Funny — I was thinking it was a Berthold face but the penny didn’t drop. Glad you found out.

I made a specimen of my own (attached), flipping the colors so Marlene could know I didn’t just copy hers! <g>

Problem is, this is from the Adobe version, which is no longer available. Berthold Types (http://www.bertholdtypes.com/bq_library/90004.html) does have it, though I am not sure one can buy just one font.

Excellent! Probably either in my Bitstream 500 collection or CorelDraw.

Thanks,

Yep, that's it. I guess the Bitstream is the knockoff.

It does look like the Berthold is only available in a family, but that's okay.

Thanks,

mxh
