INETPUB members will know Marjolein of course. It seems she is just the same and about to undertake another intrepid trip around Asia.

She will be 'blogging' her progress at
http://blog.iamback.com/

I always thought that she was a loss to INETPUB when she left. She knows more about the web than I ever will.

She knows more about the web than I ever will.

She knows more about the web than most of us will ever know.

Thanks, Patrick, for pointing me here - it's good to see so many of the old INETPUB crowd here. Of course, those who know me know I do not like web-based forums but after poking round here for a while I have to say it looks worlds better than the horrible clunky interface AOL wanted us to use. So - I may not be here every day, but I'll peek in from time to time anyway ... who knows. We'll see... ;-) I certainly miss the old INETPUB crowd.

Should really be welcome BACK. I confess I have been absent a lot recently, just so many other things crowding in.
Good that MK has returned to the fold.

Thanks for that link Patrick, she's doing something I've always wanted to do - go to Lhasa via China. I hope she's OK at over 4,500m - there's a distinct lack of dense air up there.

Meanwhile, I looked up your address on Multimap. As an undergrad at Durham many moons ago, I lived in Back Western Hill for a time. I have memories of the badgers late at night, staggering back up the hill from the Colpitts and othe such hostelries. Are they still there? - the badgers, that is.

As you will have seen, my home is close to the Flass. The badgers are still there and still have a penchant for peanut butter sandwiches. There are deer in the Flass too, but they are more rarely seen, being more shy, or maybe they don't like peanut butter.
The Colpitts is still open, and much used by students I believe.

I need to go and have a look, and buy a pint of Old Brewery.

I passed though Durham during the summer of 2004, and noticed many changes to the road network at least. Palace Green is as splendid as ever, making me realise how fortunate I was to spend a year living in North Bailey. Boy, did we take it for granted! In fact, I'd forgotten the Cathedral bells chimed every hour - I couldn't recall that there were bells at all, despite living across the road.

But this is my favourite memory:
